The Judicial Police (PJ), through the Criminal Investigation Department (DIC) of Madeira, conducted the "#notSOSmart" operation, resulting in the arrest of three individuals caught in the act of drug trafficking. The operation targeted 11 commercial establishments, including nine smartshops and two tobacconists.
The objective was to detect and deter the sale of narcotic products and psychotropic substances, following indications that products containing cannabis and other prohibited psychoactive substances were being sold to the public. 7,386 units of prohibited products were seized, including cannabis flowers, teas, oils, vapes, and edibles.
Furthermore, 13 administrative offenses were detected, mainly related to incorrect or missing labeling on food products, leading to the seizure of 486 units. The PJ warns that selling these products, even if labeled as "CBD" or "THC below 0.3%", can constitute the crime of drug trafficking.
