Paula Margarido Warns of Social Exclusion Risk Associated with Cancer

The Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Labor, and Youth, Paula Margarido, warned of the risk of social exclusion associated with cancer, advocating for the protection of the rights of individuals with oncological diseases.

Speaking at the closing of the 'Conversas em Rosa' (Conversations in Pink) event in Funchal, as part of the Pink October commemorations, Margarido stressed that the response to the disease must extend beyond the clinical aspect, addressing familial, professional, and emotional dimensions.

She called for the creation of conditions enabling patients to maintain or resume professional activity and urged employers' understanding. Margarido also highlighted the importance of respecting patients' emotional journeys, rejecting the expectation that they must constantly display strength.
