Paulo Neves says central government is meeting its commitment on new Madeira hospital

The PSD deputy highlighted the government's agreement to fund 50% of the third construction phase of the planned central university hospital.

PSD deputy Paulo Neves told the Health Minister that the AD government has kept its commitment to funding the future Central and University Hospital of Madeira. He said the national government agreed to pay 50% of the hospital's third construction phase, fulfilling its promise.

Speaking during the specialised discussion of the 2027 State Budget, Neves contrasted this stance with what he described as nine years of inaction and lack of political will under the previous Socialist government on the same project.

He noted that three competing consortia are bidding for the third phase, which he called good news. He added that the hospital is meant to be a centre of excellence with a research focus, benefiting the whole country.
