The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) has celebrated the defeat of the Labour Package, viewing it as a significant victory for workers and the people.
According to the PCP, this outcome demonstrates that organization, unity, and mobilization are essential to halt regressive measures and defend rights. The party now calls for a strengthening of this force to counter new attempts to impose harmful policies and to advance improvements in living conditions.
Specific proposals for the region include valuing labour with better wages, applying the islander subsidy to all workers, developing a strategy to combat poverty, setting maximum prices for essential goods, strengthening the Regional Health Service, a plan against precarious employment, creating a public transport network, an emergency housing program, and improving conditions for retirees and students.
