Pedro Calado, seen as the natural successor to Miguel Albuquerque, says he wants to return to politics and does not rule out leading the PSD in Madeira. The interview was published by DIÁRIO as part of the 'Rostos da Autonomia' podcast, supported by the Madeira Legislative Assembly.
In January 2024 he became involved in a court case that at the time seemed likely to end his political career. In the conversation he recalls his childhood in Mozambique, the family's return to Madeira before the 25 April 1974 revolution, and his professional path in consulting, banking and auditing.
Calado entered politics in 2005, when Miguel Albuquerque invited him to join the list for the Funchal city council, a post he held during the 2005-2009 term.
