A heavy downpour struck the island of Madeira early in the evening, with the Ponta do Pargo weather station registering 19.9 millimeters of precipitation in one hour. This figure was only 0.2 mm below the threshold for an orange alert.
The intensity of the rainfall was significant, with 7.7 mm falling in just 10 minutes and 16.2 mm in 30 minutes. Other locations, including Monte (12.4 mm), Ponta de São Jorge (11.3 mm), and Pico Alto (10.7 mm), recorded amounts that triggered a yellow alert.
According to the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), precipitation was observed at all 18 meteorological stations on the island, with O Caniçal recording the lowest amount (0.2 mm). The IPMA issued a yellow alert for precipitation in Madeira, valid until 4 AM.
