Seven meteorological stations in Madeira recorded tropical nights on every day of August 2026. This means minimum temperatures remained at or above 20 degrees Celsius for the entire month.
The data, released by the Regional Statistics Directorate of Madeira (DREM) with information from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), also indicates that average temperatures across all analysed stations were above the climatological norm for August.
The highest average temperature was recorded in Funchal/Observatório (25.4°C), with a positive deviation of 1.7°C above the norm. Funchal/Observatório registered no precipitation, while São Vicente accumulated 39.0 mm, the highest value for the month. Sea water temperature in Funchal remained high, with a monthly average of 23.9°C.
