Portuguese Center in Caracas Becomes Solidarity Hub After Earthquake

The Portuguese Center in Caracas, usually a venue for sports and cultural activities for the Luso-Venezuelan community, has shifted its focus to solidarity after an earthquake.

Despite minimal structural damage, the institution suspended its regular activities as a sign of respect for the victims. Instead of events, its spaces are now used to receive and organize donations such as food, medicine, and hygiene products.

Dozens of volunteers, particularly Portuguese women, are mobilizing to ensure aid reaches its destination, with a significant portion going to La Guaira, the most affected area. The center is also collaborating with Caritas and has made deliveries to a maternity hospital in Caracas, transforming itself into a logistical center for solidarity.
