Days after being rescued alive from the rubble in La Guaira by the Portuguese search and rescue mission, Hernán Fernández received a special hospital visit.
Commander Hugo Santos gifted him a Cristiano Ronaldo jersey, a gesture that moved the survivor and the rescue team. During the operation, Hernán realized Portuguese rescuers were searching for him and shouted "Siiiiiii!" and "Ronaldo!".
This moment became a symbol of hope and a bond between the Venezuelan survivor and the Portuguese operatives. Fulfilling a promise, the commander returned to present the jersey, which became more than a memento, symbolizing the connection forged.
