The People's Monarchist Party (PPM) of Madeira has described as regrettable what it calls a blame game between Santa Cruz City Hall and the Regional Government concerning responsibility for the maintenance and conservation of the Cristo Rei monument in Garajau.
The monument is currently closed to visitors due to its state of disrepair. In a statement, the party questions whether the Cristo Rei do Garajau will become an orphaned child that nobody wants.
PPM Madeira coordinator, Paulo Brito, appeals to the involved entities to quickly reach an understanding and put an end to what he describes as a soap opera of political-partisan struggles.
