The Socialist Party (PS) holds the Regional Government of Madeira responsible for the progressive deterioration of the José Lino Pestana Sports Complex in Porto Santo.
Marta Freitas, a PS deputy, stated that after the club's insolvency in 2006, responsibility for the infrastructure's upkeep and maintenance shifted to the Regional Government. Twenty years later, the complex is in poor condition, with its pitch, lighting, and stands requiring urgent intervention.
Freitas also criticized the lack of progress on announced sports projects for Porto Santo, contrasting it with investments in other areas like golf. The PS demands that the Regional Government fulfill its duty towards the youth, sports, and the island's future by ensuring decent public facilities.
