The Socialist Party (PS) parliamentary group in Madeira has submitted a protest vote to the Legislative Assembly, criticizing the Regional Government's alleged inability to address problems that have led to the non-approval of the Madeira Social Security Institute's (ISSM) accounts by the Court of Auditors.
According to the PS, limitations identified in the 2023 and 2024 reports, which have persisted since 2020, compromise the reliability of the accounts. Notably, the official auditor could not obtain reasonable assurance regarding €63.662 million in balances due to failures in information systems and controls.
MP Isabel Garcês, cited by the party, highlighted the absence of a study on future pension liabilities and a lack of disclosures required by the Public Accounting Standardization System. The PS believes the Regional Government has failed in its supervisory and institutional coordination responsibilities to resolve these structural constraints, raising concerns about transparency in public fund management.
