PS-Madeira Denounces Cut in Technical Support for Small Agricultural Projects

PS-Madeira criticizes the Regional Government for withdrawing technical support for agricultural project development, impacting small farmers.

PS-Madeira Denounces Cut in Technical Support for Small Agricultural Projects

The president of PS-Madeira, Célia Pessegueiro, has denounced that the Regional Government has stopped providing technical support to farmers for the preparation of small agricultural projects under the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (PEPAC).

According to Pessegueiro, farmers with projects up to 20,000 euros, who previously received technical assistance, must now hire certified companies, incurring additional costs. The socialist leader emphasized that this measure penalizes regional agriculture, characterized by small landholdings, and contrasts with announcements of large investments in the sector.

Célia Pessegueiro also criticized the Regional Government's management concerning the municipality of Santana, mentioning the postponement of works such as the transformation of the São Jorge school into a nursing home and the Cortado junction, accusing the executive of "promising but constantly delaying."
