In a statement signed by the president of the Santa Cruz Concelhia, Agostinho Alves, the party argues that the controversy arises in a context of "exhausted governance" in the municipality, also highlighting issues with housing access, mobility, cost of living, and lack of employment opportunities.
Chega believes the succession of controversies reveals the "wear and tear of a governance model" that has lost its ability to inspire confidence. The party advocates for a political alternative based on "seriousness, transparency, and the defense of public interest," concluding that "Santa Cruz cannot remain stagnant. It is time to change course."
