PS Questions Santa Cruz's 13.2 Million Euro Loan and Project Planning

The Socialist Party (PS) has raised questions regarding the investment strategy of the JPP executive in Santa Cruz during a Municipal Assembly meeting. The party contests the planning and execution of 11 projects to be financed by a 13.2 million euro loan, to be repaid over 20 years.

António Alves, a municipal deputy for the PS, stated that the opposition is not against investment itself, but rather against the way projects are planned and executed. Alves cited the intervention at Reis Magos Beach and the requalification of the Caniço Taxi Rank as examples, projects that he claims have been repeatedly announced by the executive over several years without materializing.

The PS advocates for the executive to present the costs, start and end dates, and future financial burdens associated with these projects. "Governing is not about announcing. Governing is about planning, scheduling, executing, and delivering," Alves concluded, emphasizing the need for rigor in public fund management.
