The PSD councilor in the Santana Municipal Chamber, António Jorge Azevedo, has criticized the message printed on the official cups of the Madeira Agricultural and Repentista Festival (FARM). The phrase "One more drink and nobody's drunk" was deemed inappropriate for a municipality, especially in a society facing issues with alcohol consumption.
Azevedo stated his support for reusable "eco-cups" but strongly disagreed with the chosen message, which he finds unfortunate and insensitive. He argued that while the phrase might be seen as a joke among friends, its use by a public entity is unacceptable.
The councilor recalled concerns raised about alcohol being a major social problem in Madeira. Although the deliberation was about authorizing the production and sale of the cups, the specific slogan was not discussed by councilors before their production, according to Azevedo.
