The PSD parliamentary group visited the rent-a-car area at Madeira Airport to highlight new regulations governing the activity.
The changes aim to resolve issues of public space occupation in high-tourism areas, requiring rent-a-car companies to have designated parking for unrented vehicles within a 15-kilometer radius of their main operational point.
The new framework also enhances company identification and accountability, mandating physical premises and service counters. It increases the minimum vehicle fleet size, improves safety conditions, and allows for stricter fleet control, encouraging a shift towards sustainable mobility, such as incorporating more electric vehicles.
