PSD/Madeira deputies have presented a draft Regional Legislative Decree in the Legislative Assembly of RAM, proposing the creation of the Emergency and Civil Protection Merit Medal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
This distinction is intended to recognize individuals and institutions that have distinguished themselves through their actions, contributions, or dedication in the area of civil protection. Deputy Joana Silva of the PSD emphasized that civil protection is made "above all, of people" who respond in difficult situations.
The medal will have three grades – gold, silver, and bronze – and can be awarded to individuals or collective entities, national or foreign, who have played a relevant role in the Region. The aim is to foster a culture of recognition and to formally and institutionally thank those who protect and assist the community, often risking their own lives.
