Rafaela Fernandes Highlights Madeira's Alignment with National Environment Strategy

Social Democrat MP Rafaela Fernandes commented on the recent Council of Ministers resolution approving the National Strategy for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity 2030.

Fernandes pointed out that several aspects of the national strategy are already being implemented in Madeira, including coordination between government, municipalities, and NGOs, the user-pays principle, and the green economy concept.

The MP stressed the importance of analyzing the document and its proposed measures, adapting them to the region's specificities. She also argued that public investment should focus on environmental protection and climate change adaptation, based on technical grounds, recalling Madeira's pioneering role in this field.
