The Regional Government of Madeira has honored three Madeirans who distinguished themselves through their work with the Madeiran Diaspora, with the new 'Madeira Global' distinction. The ceremony took place within the scope of the Madeira Global Forum.
José Luiz Silva was honored posthumously, described as a "tireless defender" of Madeirans in South Africa. His wife, Maria Silva, received the award. The businessmen João Jesus Luís, based in the United Kingdom, and Felisberto Camacho, a businessman in Venezuela, were also honored.
