Madeira's regional secretary for the economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, announced that applications are now open for two business incentive schemes worth more than €30 million. He made the announcement at the launch of the Madeira Goods Go Global capacity-building programme, held in the Regional Government's main hall.
Of the total, €6.7 million is allocated to the SI Transportes scheme, aimed at export-oriented industrial companies, while €24 million goes to a scheme supporting other operating costs. Rodrigues said the support comes at a time when businesses and households are feeling the strain of rising fuel prices.
He stressed that the island's remoteness from major consumer markets affects competitiveness but should not limit local companies' ambitions. The Go Global programme, run by Madeira Parques Empresariais with AICEP, focuses mainly on the food and beverage sectors and offers free training on exporting, international marketing and logistics.
