The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, has stressed the importance of strengthening the connection between Madeira's producers and consumers by supporting regional produce.
Speaking at the presentation of Funchal Food Week, Maciel stated that choosing locally produced food contributes to food security, sustainability, and quality, particularly for an island and outermost region like Madeira.
He praised the Funchal City Council's work through its SEMEAR strategy and congratulated them on holding another Food Week, confirming the Regional Secretariat's services are available to enhance cooperation across the Madeiran food chain.
