Although registration is not mandatory, it is recommended for emergency situations such as natural disasters, conflicts, or health crises. By providing travel details like destination, dates, and accommodation, consular services can more easily locate and contact travellers.
The application also offers safety and health information about the destination country, contact details for Portuguese embassies and consulates, and an SOS button for emergencies. The Consular Emergency Office operates 24/7 for support in serious situations, but the app does not replace local emergency services or travel insurance.
