Rui Abreu, the representative of the Regional Government of Madeira in Venezuela, held a meeting with the Consul General of Portugal in Caracas, which he described as "very fruitful".
The meeting focused on cooperation between the entities in responding to the aftermath of the earthquake that devastated the La Guaira region and updating the tragedy's casualty figures.
Abreu reported 97 deaths and approximately 60 missing among the Madeiran and Portuguese-descendant community, with potential for figures to rise. Madeira's support measures, including donations and financial aid, were also outlined.
