Ryanair will require passengers checking hold luggage to drop it off no later than 60 minutes before scheduled departure, starting 10 November. The previous limit was 40 minutes, cutting the time available to check a bag by 20 minutes.
The change applies at all airports served by the airline and covers both in-person check-in and bag drop services. Ryanair says the aim is to give passengers more time to get through security and, where applicable, passport control queues.
The company estimates that about 20% of its passengers travel with checked bags and will be affected. Those who miss the new deadline may be denied boarding without a refund, so passengers are advised to arrive with enough margin.
