Father José Clemente dos Santos, a priest of the Salesian Congregation, passed away this Wednesday at the age of 89. The Archdiocese of Évora announced his death, expressing sorrow for the loss.
Born in 1937 and ordained a priest in 1968, José Clemente dos Santos served in various communities in Portugal and abroad, including missions in Madrid, Macau, and Estoril, and as a military chaplain in Mozambique. His time in Madeira was part of a journey of over five decades serving the Salesian Church, where he was associated with the Diocese of Funchal.
In recent years, he resided in the Salesian Community in Évora, continuing his pastoral duties.
