The São Gonçalo parish in Funchal will celebrate its patron saint's festival on Sunday, July 12. The Eucharist will begin at 5 PM, followed by a procession through some streets of the parish, scheduled to depart at 6:30 PM.
On the preceding Saturday, the evening Mass starts at 8 PM, with liturgical animation by Grupo Alfa. The festival will feature Madeiran singer Octávio Freitas on Saturday from 9:30 PM to midnight, and musical entertainment on Sunday from 7 PM to midnight.
Originally, the festival was held on the Sunday after the liturgical day of January 10, but it was moved to the second Sunday of July to better accommodate outdoor festivities.
