The Regional Secretary of Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Freitas, visited the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters detachment in Curral das Freiras. The visit aimed to observe operational work and learn about recent facility improvements.

Micaela Freitas, accompanied by local authorities, emphasized the importance of the interventions in enhancing the detachment's working conditions and operational capacity. The official also toured the former primary school, slated for rehabilitation to house the future Local Civil Protection Unit, a Population Concentration and Support Zone (ZCAP), and new fire station facilities, potentially funded by EU grants.

During her visit, the secretary expressed gratitude for the firefighters' dedication and highlighted the effectiveness of the Special Rural Firefighting Device (DECIR), noting an average response time of 16 minutes for the first unit to arrive at incidents this year.
