MEP Sérgio Gonçalves met in Brussels with Airlines for Europe (A4E) to discuss the European Commission's proposal on multimodal digital mobility services and its implications for aviation and passengers.
The meeting addressed new rules for searching, comparing, and booking multimodal journeys. A4E highlighted the need to clarify responsibilities between airlines and intermediary platforms in ticket sales.
Gonçalves stressed that the aviation sector should not be penalized by excessive regulation and pledged to follow the legislative process. He also raised the application of the Emissions Trading System (ETS) to aviation, advocating for exemptions for flights between outermost regions and the European Economic Area.
