Six natural gas tankers, loaded at the Sines terminal, are expected to arrive in Madeira next Thursday. The loading was secured after an agreement between REN Atlântico and the Union of Workers in the Transforming Industries, Energy, and Environmental Activities of the South (SITE Sul).
The Regional Government expressed satisfaction with the agreement, which ensured the region's supply. Regional Secretary for Economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, noted that the solution stemmed from efforts initiated before the strike, including urgent requests to the Minister of Environment and Energy.
The REN Atlântico workers' strike, which concluded today, was called by SITE Sul and Fiequimetal over pre-retirement benefits. Madeira typically receives an average of 35 gas tankers per week.
