The Port of Canical experienced a historic day with the simultaneous operation of four cargo transport ships: Insular, Jaime, Atlântico, and Ilha da Madeira. During the operation, 647 containers and 104 vehicles were unloaded.
According to APRAM, this complex operation required significant planning and coordination, involving around 20 professionals, two tugboats, and a launch. The president of APRAM's board, Paula Cabaço, highlighted the port's strategic capacity for supplying the region and its importance for economic growth.
This simultaneous movement of four ships, which will now occur bi-weekly, demonstrates the Canical Port's installed capacity. Cargo movements in Madeira's ports continue to reach historic highs, with a 5.75% increase in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.
