The car rental sector in Madeira experienced positive performance in the second quarter of 2026, with total revenues reaching 33.2 million euros. This figure represents a 7.1% year-on-year growth, according to provisional data from the Regional Statistics Directorate of Madeira.

The core rental service generated the most revenue at 26.6 million euros, with other services accounting for 6.6 million euros. For the first six months of the year, overall income rose by 5.8% to 50.8 million euros.

Between April and June 2026, 124,750 rental contracts were signed, a 2.6% increase compared to the previous year. Madeira Airport remained the primary pick-up point, handling 61.6% of operations. The available fleet grew by 5.8% to 14,025 vehicles, with a notable increase in hybrid and electric vehicles.
