The Ponta Gorda Bathing Complex hosted the launch of the Smoke-Free Beach initiative, a collaborative project between Funchal Municipal Council (CMF), Frente MarFunchal, and the Regional Health Directorate.
The primary goal is to prevent and discourage the use of tobacco and related products, including heated tobacco and e-cigarettes, by establishing designated smoking areas. The initiative seeks to reduce exposure to second-hand smoke and aerosols, raise awareness about environmental sustainability, and decrease cigarette butt litter on beaches.
This measure aims to foster healthier and safer environments, encouraging responsible behavior at the region's bathing areas.
