A new sports club, Sport Clube Portosantense 1948, is set to be established in the coming days on the island of Porto Santo. The initiative is backed by investment from individuals with ties to football from Northern Portugal (Trofa).
Key objectives include the return of a senior team to regional football, starting in the Primeira Divisão Regional, with plans to feature local players, players from mainland Portugal, and potentially young talent from Cape Verde. The club aims to bring new joy to Porto Santo, reunite the community with football, and build a lasting legacy.
The club's logo is inspired by the island's landscapes, the sea, and a spirit of overcoming challenges, with the motto "Together We Make History. Together We Represent Porto Santo". The official registration of the club is expected to take place this week.
