A man of Russian or Ukrainian nationality is suspected of committing several thefts in commercial establishments in the Carmo and Bom Jesus area, in the heart of Funchal. A reader and establishment owner sent a photograph to the JM newsroom that identifies the alleged perpetrator of the thefts.
According to collected testimonies, the suspect alternates between wearing a cap or being bareheaded, attempting to hinder identification. The PSP has distributed the suspect's image to various police units.
However, the police can only arrest the individual if a formal complaint is filed or if caught in the act. There is no information yet regarding the man's whereabouts or if he has been questioned by authorities.
