A video circulating on social media shows two people climbing onto a rock near the Galo Resort hotel complex in Caniço before jumping into the Atlantic.
The pair appear to have crossed private property to reach the jumping point, located close to one of the hotel’s swimming pools. The footage records the moments before and after the jump, which both individuals completed without any apparent injury.
Jumping from coastal rocks carries a serious risk of injury or death. Submerged rocks, changing sea conditions, and uncertainty about the water depth can make such jumps particularly hazardous. It is not known when the footage was recorded or whether the individuals had permission to enter the property, though people were present at the time.
