The Portuguese Navy's Training Ship Sagres will be docked at pier 2 in Funchal from Tuesday, September 15, to Wednesday, September 16. The ship, which began its adaptation voyage with 102 Naval School candidates on September 11, will be open for visits on Tuesday between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
During its recent April-August mission, the NRP Sagres represented Portugal at Sail250 in the USA, where toasts were made with Madeira Wine, recreating a historic toast by the US founders. Two barrels of Madeira Wine that participated in this voyage will be unloaded on Tuesday morning.
This marks the 47th visit of the NRP Sagres to Funchal. The ship, commanded by frigate captain José Eduardo de Sousa Luís, has a crew of 97 military personnel and 102 national candidates, plus 3 future cadets from Portuguese-speaking countries.
