Two low-magnitude earthquakes were recorded off the coast of Porto Santo during the early hours of Monday, August 3rd, according to the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA).
The first tremor occurred at 01:46, measuring 0.8 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located northwest of Porto Santo at a depth of 9 kilometers. The second earthquake was recorded at 04:27, measuring 2.2 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter northeast of Porto Santo at a depth of around 10 kilometers.
There have been no reports of either earthquake being felt by residents, and no damage has been reported.
