The Union of Public and Social Services Workers for the South and Autonomous Regions (Madeira Delegation) has called all workers in Public Administration and the Social Sector to a national demonstration in Funchal.
The demonstration is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, at 10 AM. Nelson Pereira, the union's coordinator, highlighted that the "recent defeat of the labor package showed that workers' struggle produces results," attributing the success to "mobilization and unity" that prevented "measures harmful to their rights."
The union leader also appealed to the Regional Government to take concrete measures against impoverishment, warning that "the salary of many workers is no longer enough to cover the most basic expenses." He advocated for the need to "continue the fight for salary appreciation, quality public services, and a better life."
