World Brain Day: Nearly Half of Dementia Cases Can Be Prevented

World Brain Day is observed annually on July 22nd, a date dedicated to raising awareness about brain health and the importance of discussing the topic for quality of life.

As part of this commemoration, Alzheimer Portugal, in partnership with Roche, has launched a new edition of the 'Actively: The Brain Club' campaign. The aim is to emphasize that nearly half of dementia cases can be prevented or delayed through the modification of 14 risk factors identified by science.

According to Alzheimer Portugal, approximately 238,000 people live with dementia in Portugal, a number that could rise to 370,000 by 2050. The campaign seeks to demystify the notion that cognitive decline is an inevitable part of aging, encouraging the adoption of healthy habits to protect long-term cognitive health.
