The Machico Health Center hosted the PRIORIZAR program – Investing in well-being, achieving self-care – for 13 weeks. This initiative by the Psychology Service of the Regional Health Service (SESARAM) engaged 55 users from the municipalities of Santa Cruz, Machico, and Santana.
Developed by clinical psychologists Paula Chapéu, Bárbara Nóbrega, and Círia Correia, the program aimed to promote mental health and self-care in primary healthcare. Weekly sessions, held between April and July, focused on physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and relational well-being.
The initiative involved 13 professionals from various fields, including psychology, medicine, nutrition, social work, and physiotherapy. Due to high participation, SESARAM is considering future editions to solidify this mental health promotion effort in the region.
