Paula Margarido Advocates for Stronger Coordination Between Social and Health Sectors

The Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Labour, and Youth, Paula Margarido, advocated for strengthened coordination between the social and health sectors during a visit to Casa de Saúde São João de Deus in Funchal. The visit was part of a series of tours to units within the Regional Network of Integrated Continuing Care.

Margarido, accompanied by Mara Rodrigues, a board member of the Madeira Social Security Institute, emphasized the importance of joint work to ensure more humanized and effective responses, particularly given the aging population.

During the visit, the institution's services were showcased, recognizing its regional leadership in mental health, including independent living training residences and home support. Investments in the future Renascer Unit, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), were also discussed, aiming to boost regional capacity for continuing mental health care.
