Under current conditions, "it is not possible to guarantee quality care in the Emergency Room corridors," but patients cannot be abandoned. This situation leads to patients being present in the corridors of the Emergency Service and on the wards, specifically those who do not require specialized care, i.e., clinically discharged patients.
More critical cases are transferred to the wards. The doctor stated that healthcare professionals feel offended by political and media statements that question the technical work performed, which should not be scrutinized outside its professional sphere.
"We cannot leave patients in the Emergency Room corridors," acknowledged the clinical director, adding that while possible solutions exist, criticism persists, even though leaving patients in corridors is not ideal.
