Júlio Nóbrega, SESARAM's Clinical Director, affirmed that clinical discharges within the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SESARAM) are not exclusive to a specific social class. He stated they are transversal to all, regardless of political or other convictions.
These remarks were made during a hearing at the Legislative Assembly, specifically addressing problematic discharges. Nóbrega acknowledged that the number of Internal Medicine doctors who have requested to be excused from responsibility is "significant," along with several other professionals.
Regarding the persistence of individuals with problematic discharges, Júlio Nóbrega noted that while such cases have always existed, the issue lies in their number. He provided an example, stating that in December 2021, there were 16 such cases, and now there are 232. The significant difference is the shift from peak numbers to continuous ones. He also mentioned that the Orthopedics department recently had no available beds, potentially leading to the postponement of scheduled surgeries.
