World Mission Day marked on Sunday with Eucharist and recreational afternoon

The Church celebrates the 100th World Mission Day next Sunday, October 18th, with events in Madeira.

Next Sunday, October 18th, the Catholic Church marks the 100th World Mission Day, an occasion established by Pope Pius XI in 1926.

The Portuguese Episcopal Conference calls for a renewal of missionary commitment, supporting younger churches, Portuguese missionaries, and the proclamation of the Gospel.

In Madeira, the celebration will take place at Colégio Infante Dom Henrique in Monte. The Eucharist begins at 11 AM, presided over by Father Joaquim Freitas, a missionary in Angola. A recreational afternoon follows from 2 PM, featuring performances by local artists, organized by the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
