The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed the south coast of Madeira Island and Porto Santo under a yellow weather warning due to hot weather and the possibility of airborne dust.
The warning is in effect from 9 am this Monday until 6 pm on Tuesday, September 8th. Temperatures are expected to rise, and Sahara dust is present in the air, likely clearing later on Tuesday afternoon.
Skies are forecast to be very cloudy with sunny spells on the southern slopes. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast, occasionally gusting stronger at the eastern and western extremes and in the highlands. Sea water temperatures range from 23 to 25°C.
