Madeira's Regional Civil Protection Service has warned of a gradual worsening of meteorological conditions, with an increased risk of forest fires predicted for the region.
The conditions, expected from Sunday, September 6th, to Wednesday, September 9th, include northeasterly winds that could reach 50 km/h in high-altitude and extreme areas of the island, as well as on Porto Santo Island. A decrease in relative humidity is also anticipated, contributing to drier vegetation.
Civil Protection advises paying attention to weather information and official guidance, and reminds the public that bonfires and burning are prohibited between April and October. Preventive measures include avoiding the use of spark-producing equipment in rural areas and refraining from camping in forest areas.
