Younous Omarjee assured Miguel Albuquerque that the European Parliament will fight for Madeira to not lose "a single euro" in the European Union's next financial framework.
Omarjee stressed that the Region "should not be penalized for its development," highlighting the decisive role of European funds in the progress achieved.
The MEP also advocated for the continuation of decentralized management of community funds, stating that "decentralization has worked" in Madeira, the Azores, and the Canary Islands. He also emphasized the Region's maritime and geopolitical dimension as strategic areas for the future of ultra-peripheral regions.
