In June, approximately 2,400 unemployed people in Madeira did not receive any benefits from Social Security. This figure represents nearly half of the unemployed in the region.
During the same period, the average amount received by each unemployed person who had access to public benefits was around 670 euros. Only 51.8% of the unemployed received some form of public financial support.
The main news story in the July 22nd edition of Diário de Notícias da Madeira highlights this situation, alongside other regional news such as increased public support for students and an anticipated investment of 84 million euros for the Atlantic Hub.
