Madeira's Regional Secretary of Economy Discusses Consumer Discrimination with Competition Authority

Madeira's Regional Secretary of Economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, met with the President of the Competition Authority (AdC), Nuno Cunha Rodrigues, to strengthen institutional dialogue and discuss economic concerns for Madeira.

Key issues discussed included the discrimination faced by consumers in Madeira and Porto Santo in online purchases, the taxation of value-added calls, and the need to increase competition for the benefit of families.

Rodrigues advocated for the elimination of practices that restrict access to goods and services on equal terms with the mainland and for VAT from value-added calls to revert to the Autonomous Region.

Nuno Cunha Rodrigues emphasized the importance of dialogue with economic partners and highlighted that the AdC's actions will focus on sectors with the greatest impact on household budgets, stating that "more competition is better."
